The Main Attractions: The Top Reasons to Visit New Zealand

Looking for the perfect location to visit on your next holiday? Look no further than our beautiful home- the land of the long white cloud, New Zealand.

New Zealand is the perfect place for a holiday regardless of whether you like exploring, getting a taste of local culture or sampling local cuisine- you will find something for everyone in our wonderful country.

If we haven’t convinced you yet, check out five of the top reasons to visit New Zealand and be ready to book your flights.

Untouched beaches

If discovering amazing beaches and spending your day soaking up the sun is your idea of a perfect holiday, you are in luck. New Zealand, particularly the North Island, boasts numerous amazing and often untouched beaches.

You will find unique and somewhat surreal black sand beaches on the west coast of the North Island, tropical beaches in the north, and perpetually sunny beaches on the east coast- a beach for every mood. Even better, once you get out of the main cities, there is a high chance you will find a beach that is completely untouched and all yours- your own personal paradise for the day!

If you are looking for a place to start, some of our favourite beaches include Piha just outside of Auckland, Waihi Beach in the Coromandel, Wainui Beach in Gisborne and Hahei north of Auckland.

Great wineries

If your idea of a great holiday is enjoying local wine and food, New Zealand will not disappoint. The unique terrain of New Zealand is known the world over for producing some of the finest wines available.

With four extremely well-known and accessible wine regions: Hawke’s Bay, Marlborough, Central Otago and Waiheke Island, wine tasting is a great way to savour the spirit of New Zealand. The Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir of New Zealand are especially celebrated and worth a trek to experience.

The vast landscape

From rolling hills to black sand beaches to the snow-capped peak of Aoraki/ Mt Cook, The landscape of our land is both dramatic and beautiful.

In the almost subtropical north, you’ll find beautiful beaches, prehistoric rainforests, and breathtaking volcanic plateaus and towering cliffs. Take a quick trip across the Cook Strait and it will feel like you have stepped into another world. The rolling green hills, vast flat grasslands, glacial fiords and soaring mountains are the stuff of postcards.

It is on those rolling hills at the top of the South Island, where you will find the home and heart of McDonald- our family farmland situated in Waihopai Valley. One of the most beautiful places in the world, it is where we produce beautiful, high-quality merino wool.

The Kiwi spirit

One of the most appealing things about New Zealand is the amazing people that call this place home. Us Kiwis are a friendly and welcoming bunch, known for our relaxed and care-free nature.
